Hubballi: E-Vehicle Charging Points at Govt Offices: Proposal Moves Forward Says Maruti Sambrani
Hubballi: A long-pending proposal to alleviate range anxiety for e-vehicle drivers is gaining momentum in. Plans are underway to establish high-speed charging points at government offices across the Mumbai Karnataka region, including Hubballi-Dharwad.
While a similar initiative for petrol bunks along highways remains under consideration by the Transport Department, the focus has shifted to providing convenient charging options within city limits. This follows the partial implementation of charging points at government offices in Bengaluru, raising hopes for wider adoption across the state.
“This proposal is gaining traction,” confirmed Maruti Sambrani, Additional Transport Commissioner, on the side-lines of National Road Safety Week-2024 programme in the city on Wednesday.
“Within six months to one year, charging stations will be available at government office premises like the DC Office, SP office, HESCOM, HDMC, and others,” he said.
The initiative aims to address a key concern hindering e-vehicle adoption – range anxiety. By providing readily accessible charging points at familiar locations, officials hope to encourage more people to make the switch to electric mobility.
Furthermore, the government’s recent decision to waive taxes on e-vehicles exceeding Rs. 20 lakhs adds another layer of incentive. This policy move aligns with the broader push towards a cleaner and more sustainable transportation future.
